In 2003, after nearly twenty years in the telecom industry, I decided it was time to make a career change. The only choice for me was to become a real estate agent. You see, I love houses and I believe in real estate as an investment. I purchased my first property at the age of 23 and have owned several properties in the DC area over the years. I have had more investment success with real estate than I have ever had in any other investment vehicle.

When acting as a buyer's real estate agent I do NOT sell properties. Instead, I help people buy properties. This is an important distinction because I believe that this process requires an agent advocate for the purchaser. If I am representing you as a buyers' agent, I am your advocate in the transaction.

As a listing agent, my strongest skill is preparing a property for market to maximize profits. Even in a market that has balanced in recent years, many of my listings are under contract in less than ten days. I believe this success can be attributed to my efforts to work with homeowners to properly prepare the property for market launch.

Another important aspect of purchasing a home and working with an agent is working with an agent who understands and respects that your home is likely your largest investment. As such, it is critical that an agent understand financing options and basic tax law as it pertains to real estate. As the financial markets have changed the ability to borrow money has become more challenging for some buyers. Working with a reputable lender is a critical part of the purchase transaction. I work with several reputable lenders who can help most people with verifiable income and good credit.

I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Northern Virginia. I have lived in DC, Maryland and Virginia and know the Metro area very well. I am licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

" I do not often post to the local listserv re excellent service, but this time I would like to make an unsolicited recommendation as this is probably the most important service that any of us will need--help in selling a house. Joan Cromwell became our real estate agent early in January for the condo we were going to put on the market. It needed a complete re-do of bath and kitchen, paint, appliances, etc. Joan and I started from scratch--she organized all the contract work, oversaw it while we were away for March (which was most of the work), had it ready to put on the market by the late March, and it sold the first day it was on the market with multiple contracts.
